How to Publish a Book with 2 Moon Press

 Step 1: Format your manuscript to this most common format: One-inch margins all around; cover page with the genre in the upper left-hand corner; word count in the upper right hand corner; title of the book centered on the page; beneath the title should be a byline with the author's pen name (or real name if you don't use a pen name); centered at the bottom of the page should be the author's real name, address, phone number, and email address. All pages, starting with the second, should have a header with the author's name, title of the book, and genre, and footer with the date and page number. Start the first page of every chapter one-third of the way down the page. Include a chapter number and title and then skip three spaces. Double-spacing is required throughout the entire manuscript. The double spacing is required simply because it is easier to read.
Step 2: Editing / Proof Reading. Have your manuscript professionally edited! This is a step many writers skip because professional editors can be costly (industry standards are $5 to $15 per page). Do not make the mistake of thinking that it is the publishing editor's job to clean up your manuscript. Having a great story idea does not make you a writer. Knowing how to write makes you a writer. Even the most grammatically-skilled writers make mistakes and require the services of outside editing services.
The first thing to think about is what kind of editing do you want. There are two types 2 Moon Press offers; standard line edit or full Continuity edit. The difference between the two can be drastic. The Line edit will catch spelling, grammar and punctuation. This is the most common edit. However we also offer the Continuity edit. This is the most complete of edits, we check for sentence flow, structure, name use and even proper use of words. This edit is the edit to get if you are looking for someone to double check your story, looking also for plot issues.
2 Moon Press packages include:
• A thorough proof reading of the book, except for the Author Advantage, as that package contains a complete continuity edit.
• Upgrading your package to include editing (except for the Author Advantage package) is $1.25 to $1.75 per page.
• One PDF proof for proofreading
• The author will need to approve the edit/proof reading.
• The author agrees to respond to 2 Moon Press editors requests within 2-3 business days.
• 1 round of corrections (up to 25 corrections). Additional corrections $1 each.
*NOTE: Please understand that if you require any additional changes to the editing of your book; the book will not move out of Step 2 (editing / proof) and the book’s release date will be delayed.
Step 3: Book Layout and Design. 2 Moon Press packages include:
• Up to 30 minute initial consultation with layout specialist to establish general book layout (this can be concluded on the phone or email)
• Creation of title page
• Creation of copyright page
• Creation of table of contents (if needed)
• Layout of text from your MS Word document
• The author will need to approve the layout design.
• The author agrees to respond to 2 Moon Press layout specialist requests within 2-3 business days.
• One PDF proof for proofreading
• 1 round of corrections (up to 25 corrections). Additional corrections $1 each. Corrections limited in this phase to the general book layout, title page, copyright page, table of contents (if needed) and page numbers.
*NOTE: Please understand that if you require any additional changes to the interior or editing of your book; the book is moved back to Step 2 (editing) and shall cause delays in the release date. After approval of your layout any changes the authors want to make to the interior of the book will be charged a redesign fee of $285.00. Print ready files shall be sent until after books are printed. Once books are printed, you shall receive an author copy of the print ready PDF files on CD.
Step 4: Book Cover. 2 Moon Press packages include:
• Custom designed cover by one of our cover specialist.
• Authors can supply their own images if necessary. The images must be saved at 300dpi as an image format (JPG, TIF, and PDF).
• The author is responsible for making all final creative decisions. The author will need to approve the cover design.
• The author agrees to respond to 2 Moon Press cover specialist requests within 2-3 business days.
• One PDF cover proof
*NOTE: Please understand that the book will not go into print & bind until the edit, layout, and cover have been approved by the author.
